Incidentally, Michael Bunker,
who did three Prophecy Club tours, warned Stan Johnson about
Bill Deagle as well as Michael Rood,
before breaking from the Prophecy Club:
August 28, 2001..."...I talked to Stan about Bill Deagle
during my first tour. ... It took months for Stan to back off
of Bill Deagle. He still sold Deagle’s videos and books long
after he knew that Bill was a fraud. Stan even read a Bill
Deagle "vision" at the end of my first video AFTER I told
him... I also warned Stan about the
poison of several other speakers, after people came up to me
at the PC meetings crying - because they had allowed one of
Stan’s speakers to "mark" them with an upside down cross on
their forehead. When I found out Stan was going to send the
gentile "rabbi" Michael Rood on tour – I warned him again.
Rood proceeded to use the PC platform to build his own
kingdom, while simultaneously convincing the world that he is
an authentic "messianic Jewish rabbi". More false prophecies
and wrong calendars were to follow.
Then, rather than return to their original base, or shut it
down for lack of support – The P.C. changed gears..." 26
Stan Johnson responded in 2001 to Michael Bunker and that was also posted by Bunker:
"...Stan:
It was not Bunker's place to warn me about anyone. Bunker was
one of 100 guest speakers we attempted to help get his message
out. I don't let one speaker tell me who the other speakers
are to be or not to be. I try to let God run this ministry,
not guest speakers. Though I regret putting a few speakers on
tour, God did not call Bunker to decide on speakers..."27
Stan Johnson's statement concerning the upside down cross placed on
foreheads:
"....As far as the "mark" - well, at first it looked good. To
me receiving it was standing against evil. When complaints
came in after airing a radio program on it, I studied it more
carefully and saw it was wrong. ..."28.
Even the most undiscerning
should recognize that the upside down cross is used in satanic
symbolism, used in satanic necklaces, on satanic altars and is a
mockery and rejection of Jesus Christ. Receiving a mark on the
forehead has nothing to do with 'standing against evil'. In the
Scriptures, taking a mark on the forehead is related to taking
the mark of the beast.
Revelation 13:16 And he
causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and
bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their
foreheads:
Concerning Michael Rood in 2001, Johnson stated:
....Now
concerning Michael Rood. First of all, even if Rood has some
ideas that are different than others, Bunker is out of order
in criticizing him, just as he is out of order attacking me.
...Rood was one of our most
popular speakers. Still to this day we have people call and
want more information from Rood...We endeavor to keep
information given to our supporters accurate as the agreement
with our speakers states. We say if you can't prove it, you
can't say it. Here is the problem with what Michael Bunker is
doing. He is trying to tear down Bill Deagle and Michael Rood
when that is not his place..."
29
Stan Johnson apparently needs
to actually apply the statement, "We
say if you can't prove it, you can't say it."
In spring 2004, Stan Johnson
wrote an article titled, Michael Rood -Bridging America and
Israel. It was based on a supposed dream given to Stan
Johnson by the Lord, whereby he regretted not continuing his
support of Michael Rood after 2000 and now felt that the message
Michael Rood has is from God and should be fully supported.
Michael Rood is promoted by
Johnson
as a "Messianic Jewish
Rabbi".
Actually
Michael Rood is a Gentile turned
Karaite Jew, which should go
against the beliefs of Stan Johnson and the Prophecy Club. But,
as with many who claim to follow Jesus Christ and make
declarative statements about that, the inerrancy of Word of God,
the deity of Christ and so on, those things appear to be easily
set aside for every wind of doctrine.
Due
to Rood's teaching Stan Johnson was concerned about the true name of God,
according to him, that being Yahweh, and for Jesus, he wrote Yashua and then
Yahshua--which is not found anywhere in the Scriptures. It is a
made up name. In his interpretation of the 2004 'dream', Mr. Johnson wrote,
...In my dream I was with
Michael Rood standing on a large mountain overlooking a large valley. In
the distance I saw what looked like a railroad. Scanning from
left to right I could see a bridge was being built from the
large mountain I was standing on across a large river to the
other mountain.
Michael pointed and said, "Look at the construction we
are doing here in Israel. We’re building a bridge from Israel
to America." Over to my right I saw two teams of people
...Interpretation: I believe God was answering my prayer
"Look at the construction we
are doing here in Israel. We’re building a bridge from America
to Israel." Michael is called by
God to build a bridge from America to Israel—to bring Jewish
understanding to America and to take the gospel to Israel
I saw two teams of people
hammering; Michael has two
teams of volunteers. One in Israel and one in America.
Stretching a steel cable
across the river to form a bridge. Together they are bringing
needed Jewish understanding to America and the gospel to
Israel
...Represents the first time
Michael was on tour with The
Prophecy Club®. I could have grabbed the understanding then,
but was not ready to receive it...
Fell back toward me. This
second tour is the second opportunity for me to grasp the
understanding.
...I swung at it with a
stick I had in my hand ...it was slightly bent from my hitting
it and knocking it up hill. I think this represents comments I
made on the radio that hurt bringing this truth to America.
Comments like against "going overboard with all this Jewish
stuff." Which to a degree is correct. We are to win Jews to
Jesus, not Christians to become Jews and go back under the
law. ...we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
...
...However, God is bringing
us truth through Michael
Rood... Michael’s heart is
to bring truth to God’s people..
...I think the Lord is
simply explaining that Michael
Rood is called to bridge
America and Israel and bring truths in both cultures together,
and God is in Michael’s
ministry. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord. So I
will do all I can to help Michael
with his call from God and I believe
Michael will also help this
ministry with its call..." 30
He went on to promote Michael Rood's
speaking tour, including the display of "an ancient Torah scroll
that was smuggled out of Iraq", "where we are in relation to
God’s time clock and the fulfillment of the Feasts of the LORD",
"how Zechariah’s thermonuclear war fits into the Endtime
scenario", and so on.
Where does one start with
Michael Rood's un-provable statements, failed predictions,
errant
scholarship and clear disregard to fact? For example:
Michael Rood Teachings >Changing the
Word of God > the skirt of the Jew; out of Zion;
Changing the Word of God by
free-translating (MIV);
Changing the
Word of God, Old Testament: Zechariah's Thermonuclear War
and so many more examples like,
The Creator's Calendar
and the Restoration of All Things And Raiders of the Lost
Book: New Discoveries in the Hebrew Text of Matthew
As an aside, Michael Rood has
sent out a plea for money again in his March 2006 newsletter,
this time asking for almost $1,000,000 to support his ministry.
In that plea, which was loaded with the military jargon, too
exciting to be true scenarios and events, the claim was that his
earlier series The 70th Week Ministry of Messiah originally
recorded in 1998, needed to be made for television. In that
newsletter and also on his michaelrood.com website promotion,
which varied in wording and content, it was noted that, "To this
end, The Rood Crew is teaming up with IMS Productions of
Colorado Springs" and:
"...What makes “70 Weeks” so
important (and controversial), is that for the first time the
Gospels are being told from a Hebraic, chronological
perspective. ...
"In
this series, we are going to bring “The Mystery of Iniquity”
up to date and take the audience into the Book of Revelation
to understand “The things which must come to pass”
before the Messiah returns. We will dig deep into the Ancient
Hebrew version of the Book of Matthew, which many of you have
been clamoring for more detail on, as we bring out incredible
truths to which we have only alluded in our landmark
production “Raiders of the Lost Book”. In the “70 Weeks”
television and DVD series I am going to lay down the
foundations of the Gospel that has
never been declared in the Western Christian
world of replacement theology – the Gospel of the Kingdom –
the Gospel that Y’shua taught and how he taught it.
This is going to shake the audience to their core and I
believe that it has the potential to bring repentance on a
global scale..." 31
This writer has reviewed and
discussed many of these claims in earlier articles which can be
viewed here:
Michael
Rood.
The gospel of Jesus
Christ has not been hidden, nor have the foundations of the
Gospel been missing. The Ancient Hebrew Matthew being promoted
was written by an unbeliever trying to turn Jewish believers away from
Christ, and does not hold any new message, new 'truths', nor was
it hidden until 'just discovered' by Michael Rood and Nehemiah
Gordon. In
this
"version" of Matthew, it is taught that preaching the gospel to
the gentiles is of the anti-christ.
We are
reminded.
2 Cor. 4:1 Therefore seeing
we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint
not;
2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not
walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God
deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending
ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them
which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of
Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Update December 2007 >
2007 proved
to be a banner year in the continuing saga of
Michael John
Rood and A Rood Awakening! Ministries. Rocked with
controversy, accusations of illegal activity, hostility, lust for power and wealth, a power
struggle between key personalities came to light after
Michael Rood's May 31, 2007 email speaking of Jamie Louis
taking a sabbatical. Michael Rood's decision to remain in the
United States and embark on a "bolder vision" for
A Rood Awakening! Ministries was presented in that initial letter which set
events in motion which split staff, friends and supporters
into two camps. One held by Michael Rood and one held by
Jamie Louis, administrator of A Rood Awakening! Ministries. The
A Rood Awakening! Ministries Advisory Board
and others who stood with Jamie Louis included, Michael Detwiler, Don Visser, Perry Challender, Angie Bishop
and others.
By August
the wagons were circled so to speak, as public statements
were read across the internet. Jamie Louis and those
standing with him in the original A Rood Awakening!!
Ministries, waited on a selected panel of "judges" to
determine what should be done. Michael Rood and his
supporters started a new corporation in Michigan, which
was filed August 6, 2007, and naming it A Rood Awakening!
Ministries! International. Michael stated on those
corporation papers that his residence was in Israel. His staff
now included, Glenn McWilliams, Don and Pam Harris,
Charles Barrett and others.
Two new websites were launched by the Rood camp, one called
reallyrood.com in competition with the original
aroodawakening.tv, unroododespertar.tv and
aroodawakening.com, all of which have since been shut down. The
new michaelroodministries.com was launched in direct competition
to the original michaelrood.com, which has been shutdown. Jamie
Louis also included in his Ya'akovlevi site the name of a new
business called Torah to the Nations, based in Oregon. On
December 14, 2007, Michael Rood's Michigan attorney's filed
lawsuit against Jamie Louis. For more on this See:
A Real Michael Rood Awakening Concerning Alleged Torah Observant Activities
It is
noteworthy that Perry Challender had registered a website
called TorahtotheNations.com, which merely housed a link
to MichaelRood.com. He has also been the registrar and/or
administrative contact for MichaelRood.com, for
Jamie Louis's Yaakovlevi.com, YLF.info, for Don Visser's
site, dandmservice.com and so on.
Stan
Johnson wrote
a letter to what appears to be Jamie Louis, which was posted
on reallyrood.com, stating he stood with Michael
Rood and people were going to be cursed for going against
God's anointed minister. Johnson claims that Michael
Rood has
a direct ministry from God, (as does he), and all
others are not to question him but are there to serve him.
According to Johnson, it did not matter if Rood was
offensive, behaving in ungodly ways or involved in illegal
activities, no one should doubt or question Michael Rood's
ministry.
"It doesn't
matter what Michael has done, or not done.... Michael is the
speaker and minister, the ministry cannot do without Michael.
Michael is responsible to God to do what he is told, and to
handle what money, or messages may be given to him. Michael
reports to God and none other.... Let's take a worst-case
scenario. Let's say Michael made $300,000 on a speaking tour,
and decided to buy himself a nice house with it. Let's say
some don't like that. Their ONLY recourse is to LEAVE the
ministry...Otherwise he may spend it as he sees fit...If you
want to continue to be blessed by God you must agree to
this..." [www.reallyrood.com/Stan.html.]
A second
letter to Michael Rood, titled, A personal letter with truth
for all... was also posted at the reallyrood.com website. In
it Stan Johnson, who claims to be an Apostle, wrote:
"...You,
Michael have a DIRECT ministry. You don’t have a choice, and
you know it. ...I call it a “DIRECT ministry.” When a person
is given a direct ministry, they report directly to God. They
are directly responsible to do as they are told. ...You heard
the voice of God. There may be other reasons, but that one
incident proves you are a “sent one.” You have a DIRECT call
from God.
[Barnabas'] ministry was to
MINISTER TO PAUL, and as long as he was with Paul God used him
powerfully. After he walked away from Paul you never hear of
him again.
The same thing is true with these people who have come against
you. Their ministry was to hold up your arms. To be your armor
bearer. To minister to the minister. Not to dominate you, or
tell you what to do, or to “run the show.” They were to be
blessed BECAUSE they blessed you. When they stopped blessing
you, they stopped receiving their blessings, and in the
Kingdom of God there is no middle ground. Either we are
blessed, or cursed...Either you are have a part with God, or
you don’t.
...There is
only one hope to remove God’s curse upon them, that is to
return what was stolen, and repent before you, and ask your
forgiveness. Upon which you will forgive them and pray God
removes the curse, as Moses asked God to remove the leprosy
from Miriam.
You carry the
anointing, the message and the ministry. Those who are wise
will continue to be loyal and serve you, and like God gave
Elijah’s anointing to Elisha, and God gave Moses’s anointing
to Joshua, you can pray God will give ministries to those who
have served you faithfully.
That is the truth. That is the way the Kingdom of God
works...."[www.reallyrood.com/Stan.html.]
Forgotten are the
following Scriptures:
Mark 9:35
And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto
them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be
last of all, and servant of all.
Matthew
23:12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased;
and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted
John 5:44
Jesus said: "How can ye believe, which receive honour
one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from
God only
Phil 2:3
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in
lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than
themselves.
On November
9th, the "investigation" by the panel was completed and
posted at a new website called, areallyrudeawakening.com.
On December 6th, Stan Johnson revoked his above statements
and sent an email to his followers. In that email he
stated he had asked Michael Rood to remove his letters
from his reallyrood.com website. They have been pulled as
of the time of this writing, December 27, 2007.
In the letter,
Stan Johnson recounts how Michael Rood had called him and said
that "his right hand man was taking money from his ministry, and
in fact, had stolen his ministry because he did not like some of
the things Michael had done. " Affirming that the above
mentioned support letters were still true concerning the
relationship of a helper of a ministry, and if not liking what
is done they should leave the ministry, but shouldn't destroy
the ministry. He went on by stating that no one should read the
investigation results, and not only was he not going to
say anything to any parties involved but, discouraged his
followers from being involved in the issues at all:
"After a
lengthy investigation into the matter in Michael Rood’s
ministry, by an impartial group of other ministries, some
inaccuracies have come to light, which I am not going to
comment on....I did send out an email blast to our update list
and did allow Michael to post a letter from me outlining this
point of order to his website. Therefore, now to the degree
that I have involved myself, I must now, regretfully, address
it. I have asked Michel to remove my letter from his
website....I am simply going to point you to the findings of
the independent committee,
discourage
you from going
there,...
I am going to ask you as well, not to get
involved in the airing of any dirty laundry that you don’t
have a reason to be involved. In my opinion, the only reason
for you to get involved would be if you plan on supporting the
ministry of Michael Rood in the future; then you may want to
click on the link below and read until the thing makes you
sick.... Let me say that again:
I strongly
recommend you NOT go to the link below.
Do not trouble yourself with negative remarks about another
member of the body of Christ....I am sorry I sent a letter
to Michael or an email blast on the subject. I am sorry I got
involved and recommend you avoid it. While we are on the
subject, I want you to know The Prophecy Club does things
right..."
Apparently
Apostle Stan Johnson's prophetic and direct link to heaven was
more than a little skewed as one peruses his prior letters of
support and admonition towards any that would dare to challenge
Michael Rood's actions as well as his written word, to his now
recanting and apologizing his support for Rood and his
involvement at all. Perhaps his discernment concerning Michael
Rood is equal to that of all the failed prophecies he has
promoted as well as equal to his discernment in regards to
taking the mark of an upside down cross on the forehead and
promoting it with, "To
me receiving it was standing against evil".
Matthew 7:15-23
God's
anointed is not Michael Rood.
[1 Chronicles 16:22]
Apparently the scriptures are almost unknown to many who
claim to be "God's ministers" or "God's anointed." But
then, the prerequisite for being someone to listen to in
many minds is they just have to feed "those itching ears."
[see also 2 Timothy 4:3-4;
5:19-21, 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1:5-9, Luke 16:13-15;
Galatians 5:22-26; James 3:17; James 2:3-10]
In a rebuke
of Stan Johnson's initial support letters, a
response was posted from the Louis camp, showing total disdain for the so-called
support by Johnson. In the height of hypocrisy, the
question was asked,
"Are the
Torah observant "Messianic" followers of A
Rood Awakening! impressed by the support of a man who
celebrates pagan sun-god holidays and promotes those who
do likewise."
http://www.yaakovlevi.com/Stan%20Stands%20with%20Michael.pdf
It
certainly didn't seem to bother anyone up until that
point. It is more than a little
ironic, since Jamie Louis promoted Michael Rood to the
Prophecy Club and since Don Visser worked in the Prophecy Club
offices. In fact, this writer noted in these Prophecy Club
articles Stan Johnson's continued support and
promotion of Michael Rood. Of course, Stan Johnson also
stated that the best prophets were false prophets.
Here is how Michael Rood has
spoken of Stan Johnson, and the pagan Christians he
met:
"...Just
four days after the last Prophecy Club meeting,....I
felt compelled to again address the saints that I met on
the Prophecy Club tour concerning these issues, but the
Prophecy Club monthly meetings were no longer extant.
Jamie called Don Visser at the Prophecy Club
headquarters and found that they too had desired for
me to do a singular tour concerning the same issues that
had been burning in me....Also, call Stan Johnson (785)
266-1112 at the Prophecy Club and encourage him to send
me back to your area. He will listen to you...I will be
in Topeka with Henry Gruver and Michael Coffman for an
“Intelligence Briefing” at the Prophecy Club
headquarters in Topeka, Kansas on January 20th...At
the end of the 3rd Prophecy Club tour this
last July,... "
[Michael John Rood >ELIJAH’S SINAI REDISCOVERED! OR ONE
MORE TIME AROUND THE MOUNTAIN Marheshwan 22, (corrected)
December 19, 2000>http://6001.com/mountain.htm]
The
response letter from the Louis camp went on to say:
"...What would really impress
people is if Michael Rood had the support of even
ONE well known national or international
Messianic Congregational leader or Torah teacher. JUST
ONE! "..." http://www.yaakovlevi.com/Stan%20Stands%20with%20Michael.pdf
Nothing has changed with that scenario simply because of
this shameful display of 'torah obedience'. Most
Messianic Jews view Michael Rood's TwoHouse/Ephraimite/Way
Intl./western gentile minds/no Greek manuscripts/Christian
pagans and other teachings as heresy or unsubstantiated
speculation. More on that
here.
It is some of the less discerning pagan
christians who in the past have opened their doors, their tithes and offerings,
and a media platform to Michael Rood, and
they likely will continue to do so in the future.

Y2K Failures and The Prophecy
Club Change in Direction
After all the failed predictions
by the various speakers, concerning Y2K and the American
economic collapse, etc., which many benefited from with book or
video sales prior to the failed predictions, in Stan Johnson's
March-April 2000 Newsletter, he stated,
"...In
case you were surprised after Y2k "appeared" to be nothing, so
was I!...So, I was wrong! I honestly thought
something would happen on Y2k. I went home and turned on the
VCR taping every minute so I would not miss whatever happened.
My wife had been saying for two months that NOTHING will
happen. She said everyone is watching and they are not going
to report it if a problem were to come up. I said, I can't see
how we can go around the 24 hour clock with nothing happening.
Of course, now we have discovered what really happened, and I
had to say those three words we hate to say. "You, were
right!" Then she said the three words we hate to hear. "I told
you!"
I realize many of you
did your best to warn those asleep around you of the impending
Y2k judgment day. Then you were laughed at and mocked when it
was not as bad as our best information indicated it would be.
...The next time we try to warn the sleeping
masses it will be all the more difficult to get them to
listen. ...All the
watchmen who did their best to warn loved ones have lost some
credibility. In the case of Christian ministries, they will
lose much of their support. We have had to call for emergency
donations-only the third time in almost seven years have had
to do so. I have also cancelled all airtime in the red, which
totaled to about 20% of the airtime. Attendance across the
nation at The Prophecy Club® meetings was 40% below
normal...."
...When Dr. Mark
Andrews and General Ed Wheeler reported the Y2k problem 18
months ago, it was a real problem. Where we watchmen went
wrong is underestimating the amount repaired, and the ability
of the media to cover what few problems did come up. And of
course, we now know that there were problems. When there was a
problem, the last thing anyone did was say it was Y2k related.
How do you explain the fact that third-world countries which
had massive Y2k bugs had no problems? Only one answer. God
gave the world some more time!..." 32
That was followed with
Sept-Oct, 2000 article, " I Apologize for Taking Advantage of
You Concerning Y2K", where Stan Johnson apologized for taking
advantage of people concerning Y2K, at the urging of one of his
associates, Gene Bacon. Using a saying of Dale Carnegie instead
of Scripture to validate the need to apologize, he also
complained:
"...James Lloyd wants me to tell you
that Tom and Bill are
false prophets, but I distinctly
remember the nudge from the Lord telling me to put them on
tour. Please note that many people were saved at their
meetings. Were they false
prophets? No. They, like me, and like all of us, see through a
glass darkly and sometimes get in the flesh and make mistakes.
After consulting with Gene, we both agreed that they should
not be called false prophets. I
disagree with many things our speakers have said; such as Tom
Van Asperen telling people to leave America, and
Bill
Deagle telling people he was one of the two witnesses, the
24th Elder and had been given the mantle of Moses. These are
statements done out of the flesh. We have all thought we heard
from God to discover later we didn't.
I apologize for all hurts, mistakes or
damages our speakers may have made. Perhaps God should have
never started The Prophecy Club ® . Maybe the Pastors are
right. Maybe this is just a crazy ministry of wackos. I
personally know God started it, protected it, prospered it
..." 33
Actually, because of
the awareness within the technological industry, with computers
and other machines, fixes were made and repairs made to avoid
potential Y2K problems, really no different than when issues
arise with computer programs today. Upgrades, patches and fixes.
It's part of the industry. Many corporations, including utility
corporations, took precautions not just on New Year's eve, but
prior and for a time after, to make sure the repairs worked. Why
would they panic people with talk of possible failure when many,
many
employees were called to work hard to counter any perceived
problems in these industries?
Using common sense may mean people
take precautions, as needs are evident in the many disasters
world wide. But false predictions and date setting cannot be a
part of our decisions or obedience to the Lord. We're to be
anxious for nothing, and Jesus Himself said there would be wars
and rumors of wars, earthquakes, false christs and much more and
we are not to be moved from our daily focus on developing our
relationship with Him and obedience to Him.
The ones who seemed panicked and
afraid, even of events happening today, with some to the point of terror, were those claiming to believe that God would take care
of them, and instead listened to the Prophecy Club's and many other failed
predictions. Forgotten are these Scriptures, even apparently by
those involved in The Prophecy Club:
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath
not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love,
and of a sound mind.
8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord,
nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the
afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
Revelation 21:8 But the
fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers,
and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars,
shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and
brimstone: which is the second death.
One does not need to
speculate, as one merely needs to
read the Scriptures to know that God's judgment is coming on ALL
mankind, not just America. Things are going to happen. We're to be about His business. There
is nothing that suggests that God started The Prophecy Club, and
Stan Johnson is listed as the founder.
Stan Johnson also
stated,
"...The Prophecy
Club® has been criticized in the past for not pointing out
error on the part of speakers. In response to those requests,
we are no longer going to keep silent if one of our speakers
steps into error. I will still maintain the policy of not
criticizing God's ministries. Only in cases where the speaker
has reached the point of harming those in the Lord or harming
the mission of this ministry will I do so. Some have turned
away their support of this ministry because they assumed that
because we did not speak up when error was found, we agreed
with it-which is not the case. We do disagree with speakers
who move into error, and seek truth as you do. We will not
criticize speakers publicly until we have followed the
directives of Matthew 18:15-17. I do not believe Jesus wants
us to air Christian problems in public until they have refused
to hear in private...." 34
Every false prophecy,
every false prophet, failed prediction or vision done as a presentation of
' Biblical prophecy' or 'thus saith the Lord', every failed date setting on prophecy to be
fulfilled, the inexcusably errant scholarship with claims of
proficiency, every denial of the person of Jesus Christ and every
rejection of the authenticity of the Scriptures (as with Michael
Rood), every promotion of false doctrine and so on brings harm
and shame to the Body of Christ. Promotion of false prophets is
not Biblical. And that is the bottom line. Regarding the harm
and irreparable damage date setting does, please see
Date Setting
Hypocrisy.
After all the failures of Y2K,
the apologies, the launching of the Spirit of Prophecy churches,
the change from 'being a salesman' to being a minister, in his
April/May 2001 Newsletter, "Letter from the Founder: The New
Direction" Stan Johnson again lamented over the Y2K failures
and claimed that God repaired the computers, and delayed
judgment. From that, as in 2000, he claimed that God was taking them in a new
direction, and that there would no longer be judgment warnings
but rather, there was going to be a revival in America. He went
so far as to suggest that not only was judgment delayed, it
maybe has been stayed.
Referring to 1999, he wrote:
"...At the time I was sure there
was no turning around, delaying or stopping the prophesied
judgment on America—the Russian surprise submarine launch of
nuclear bombs on America. God is more forgiving than we could
possibly imagine.
...Around October of 1999, I
noticed a subtle change in the warnings coming from the
Prophets—it stopped. I thought we would hear some more soon,
but we didn’t. In June of 1993, when The
Prophecy Club®
first began broadcasting
information on judgment; the Russians will attack, the New
World Order, black helicopters and such, was almost
nonexistent in America.
..By mid 1998 to early 1999,... Prophets across
the country and some from foreign countries were screaming the
warning—God is about to judge America. ...
...It was about then when I was
approached about the Y2K problem. The computers are going to
crash they said! ...
..All of a sudden, just prior to
Y2K, the warnings stopped. ..At the time, understandably, the same national news
programs that had joined us blowing the trumpet now changed
their mind. They were saying Y2K was repaired. The Y2K
experts, whom I was in contact with, did not buy it...."
35
It might not seem so surprising
to see these 'prophecies' all coming to a halt in late 1999. The
occult also saw nothing after the end of 1999/2000. May 5, 2000
was the New Age belief that when all of the planets were in
alignment there was to be a "cosmic moment" which announced the coming of the Messiah, and it
was to be the Day of Judgment.
In his lengthy discourse, Stan Johnson went on to state that the
decline in favor and funding after the failure of the Y2K fiasco caused bad
feelings, and instead of cursing the prophets, people should
have thanked them, which rather removes the idea of the need for
any apology by him. The fault became the unforgiving Christians who
called them false prophets: [Bolding added]
"...As
time went on, our response to the warning message continued to
drop. On January 1, 2000, when the national news reported
there was no problem—and did so in a way almost mocking those
who were expecting trouble—we saw a nose dive in response to
our program. ...
...support was supernaturally
dropping. Some scoffers cursed the ministry and hoped it would
die, but I knew better. I knew God had always held it up...
Some were saying it was the
speakers we had. I will agree there were five, out of the 100
speakers, I regret ever putting on tour. But if you think
about it for a minute, a 95% success rate is excellent! ...
...I still believe everyone of the
speakers, save one, was supposed to be on tour. I did not
agree with everything they said, but I knew God gave them the
opportunity to speak. Some just dropped the ball and let their
flesh get in the way. What we were supposed to do is find the
truth God put in the speaker and throw the rest away. ... so
some people expected the flesh and error to be removed for
them, and got mad when they discovered it wasn’t. Speakers,
good or bad, were not the reason response dropped. God was
sustaining the ministry through difficult times. The response of the people is
totally controlled by God. The response was NOT dropping
because of anything I,
The Prophecy Club®
or a speaker did or did not do. God was in control...
...Thousands of people were
offended in the spirit when we warned them of the potential
Y2K problem and it did not occur. In the spirit there was a
great offense
...They expected a national
prophetic warning ministry to give them the truth. ...
Y2K did not happen like we said, nor to the degree we said. I
believe God gave the world a great deliverance.
...God’s people should have
thanked the watchmen for their bravery and efforts to warn
them. They should have praised God for supernaturally
repairing the computers. Instead, they called them false
prophets and spiritually stoned them and cursed them.
Thousands walked away from this ministry wagging their heads."
36
Johnson reasoned that the
ministry slid and support declined because they needed to change
direction. And it was God ordained, just as all the failed
prophecies and visions were to be believed as being 'thus saith
the Lord,' the change in direction would bring "a better
ministry" and "a bigger ministry".
".... I just wanted
to warn people of the coming judgment, but that apparently had
changed. I believe the Power of Jesus Crusades!
will grow far bigger and reach more people with a deeper
impact than The
Prophecy Club®." 37
Further 'prophecies' told him
that judgment was delayed, no more warnings were to be given as
revival was in America: [Bolding added]
"...Gene Bacon came forward with a prophecy...
It seemed to be indicating revival was coming—no mention of
judgment...In early February 2001, an idea came to my heart.
What if
judgment has been delayed? What if the reason God stopped
telling His prophets that judgment was coming was because it
had been delayed? What if He stopped the meetings and was
allowing our response to drop because judgment was delayed?
What if the message was received and enough people prayed and
repented to delay the Russian attack? I began to ponder the
idea. God seemed to lay something even stronger on my heart.
"Don’t tell my people judgment is imminent any more," was what
I kept getting in my spirit. I will not guarantee it is from
God, I am NOT saying, "Thus saith the Lord." I am simply
talking to you friend to friend. It was what I was feeling in
my heart.
...To totally believe
judgment has been delayed, I would need more convincing which
I have not received. I don’t have enough information to
convince me that judgment has been delayed. It would be
very dangerous to God’s people to say that if it were not
true.
...I
could just hear scoffers saying, "Well, the false prophecy
club is covering for its lies! When Russia does not attack,
now they conveniently tell me it is just not coming because
God has delayed it!" But, I know God has been supporting The Prophecy Club® all the way"
38
Setting aside any possible
conclusion of false prophesy, and hence false prophets, he then wrote,
that 'the best prophet may be a false prophet'
and asked: [Bolding, color added]
...In exactly SEVEN YEARS (June
1993 to June 2000) The Prophecy Club® hosted around 100 speakers.
...Are we going to believe that all 100 speakers were false
prophets? Are we so unfamiliar with God and how He controls
everything to think He would allow a ministry to prosper for
seven years by putting out false information and lying to His
people?
...Each month we would get from
one to three new speakers to put on tour. Then in June of
2000, EXACTLY SEVEN YEARS from the start of The Prophecy Club®, it stopped. I mean, no more
new speakers.
...The best prophet may be a false
prophet...Apparently what happened is the warning of judgment,
combined with the threat of Y2K, put enough people repenting
and praying to delay the judgment...
..Henry Gruver saw a vision in
1985 of submarines attacking America...
...I said a minister cannot stand
in front of God’s people and tell them judgment is coming
unless he is totally convinced that it is coming. I said,
"Henry, you aren’t totally convinced anymore, are you?" He
said, "Well??................I will have to pray about it."
39
Referring to Dumitru
Duduman's prophecy and visions which he firmly believed showed
the timeline for the destruction of America, Stan Johnson stated
in this 2001 newsletter that it was possible that not only was
judgment of America delayed, but it was possible that God had
stayed the Biblically declared judgments: [Bolding added]
"...The sign posts said judgment four
pages, judgment three pages, judgment one page. Now we are
almost a year past the last sign post and have not seen the
city, nor seen the judgment. I think it is safe to say some
kind of delay has occurred. What kind of delay or how long God
will delay it, I don’t know. The big question is, "Has the
judgment been stayed?" Not just delayed, but stayed?"
40
Reiterating the change in
direction for the Prophecy Club, showing the need for donations,
Stan Johnson again supported his claim of revival, only for
America, by those same prophets who were before, in many cases,
claiming the destruction of America would have taken place by
then: [Bolding added]
"...the bottom line is this. God
has changed directions in The Prophecy Club®
from a sales based
ministry, supplemented with donations, to a donation based
ministry, supplemented with sales; from blasting the judgment
is imminent warning to a more toned down message exposing
evil, Bible prophecy and updating previous messages. He has
raised up the Power of Jesus Crusades to teach,
train and equip the saints to walk in power and victory. God
is forming an army of power-filled saints to battle the
darkness. God is bringing revival to the land. I do not think
this is the worldwide revival. I believe, as you can read for
yourselves, in the prophecies in this newsletter. The prophets
are now saying revival has hit the land. I believe this is a
revival for America. There have been pockets here and there,
but the prophets say this is the long-awaited revival for
America—not the worldwide revival—just for America...."
41
The Scriptures remind us:
Jeremiah 14:13 Then said I, Ah,
Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see
the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you
assured peace in this place.
14 Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in
my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them,
neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision
and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their
heart.
15 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that
prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword
and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine
shall those prophets be consumed.
1 Thes 5:1 But of the times
and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto
you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord
so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall
say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon
them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not
escape.
After all the talk about
changed directions, the seminars, speakers and meetings began
again in 2002, with some speakers dropped, or rather they
discontinued with the Prophecy Club, and with more getting on
board.
We see in 2004, 2005 those old
prophecies by Duduman and Henry Gruver were again brought up
under the title, "Russia will attack and defeat America unless
she repents". The reason for the focus on the attacks and
destruction by submarine attacks, was summed up in one line,
following the two summaries of their prophecies. That line was,
"Will you help The Prophecy Club warn America with your
financial support and prayers?" 42
Scriptural Warnings
To suggest that God's judgment
is stayed or even delayed is to ignore many verses. The warnings
have always been in the Scriptures and cannot be denied.
1 Thes 5:1 But of the times
and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto
you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord
so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall
say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon
them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not
escape.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should
overtake you as a thief.
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the
day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let
us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7
For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be
drunken are drunken in the night. 8 But let us, who are of the
day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love;
and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God hath not
appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord
Jesus Christ,
2 Peter 3:7 But the heavens
and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in
store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and
perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one
day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years
as one day.
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men
count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing
that any should perish, but that all should come to
repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night;
in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise,
and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also
and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what
manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and
godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God,
wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the
elements shall melt with fervent heat?
Paul
urged Titus to speak the things that “become sound
doctrine,” and to “Put them in mind to be subject to
principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to
every good work.” Titus 3:1 See also: 1 Peter 2:13-17; 2
Peter 2:9-22
Does
this even come close to what is being taught by these
“discernment prophets”???
Mt 7:19 Every tree that
bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the
fire.20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter
into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my
Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day,
Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy
name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful
works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you:
depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
