St. John Chrysostom Theological Seminary
2 Peter 2:10
But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
James
Trimm lives in Texas, and states he obtained his "diploma"
from a legitimate source. Certain laws apply in order for an educational
facility to be licensed to grant degrees. The purpose
for the required licensing is found posted by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating
Board. Their Application form shows all the issues related to applying to become licensed to
grant degrees. [Bolding added]
http://www.thecb.state.tx.us/reports/html/0338/317Cert.pdf
APPLICATION FOR A CERTIFICATE OF
AUTHORITY
TO GRANT DEGREES IN THE STATE OF TEXAS
Purpose:
It is the policy and purpose of the State of Texas to prevent deception
of
the public resulting from the conferring and use of fraudulent or substandard
college and university degrees; it is also the purpose of this subchapter to
regulate the use of academic terminology in naming or otherwise designating
educational institutions, the advertising, solicitation or representation by
educational institutions or their agents, and the maintenance and preservation
of essential academic records. Because degrees and equivalent indicators of
educational attainment are used by employers in judging the training of
prospective employees, by public and private professional groups in
determining qualifications for admission to and continuance of practice, and
by the general public in assessing the competence of persons engaged in a wide
range of activities necessary to the general welfare, regulation by law of the
evidences of college and university educational attainment is in the public
interest. To the same end the protection of legitimate institutions and of
those holding degrees from them is also in the public interest.
Texas Education Code, Chapter 61, Subchapter G -
...The Board has set the application fee, found in §5.213(e) of the
certification rules, at $3,000. This fee covers the cost of the on site review
which will be conducted to review your application. It covers the cost of
expenses for the review team, usually four members, and a Coordinating Board
staff member, along with consultant fees for the team...."
James Trimm has consistently
made the claim that his
diploma was
legitimate and that he earned it from Saint John Chrysostom
Theological Seminary (SJCTS). SJCTS has made the claims that they are qualified
to be able to dispense
degrees, regardless of the laws. They have never been licensed in New Mexico or
Texas to grant degrees. Texas Higher Education has provided the view
the State of Texas has for non-licensed establishments that
offer illegal degrees. Since we are to uphold the laws of
the land, what really is the issue?
A closer look at SJCTS is worth the time.
Trimm said:
"...My doctorate is
from St. John Chrysostom Theological Seminary
About St. John Chrysostom
Theological Seminary
An Ecumenical Seminary of
the Catholic Apostolic Church
in North America
Which is the authentic
representative of The "Igreja Catolica Apostolica
Brasileira" (the Catholic Apostolic Church of Brazil) ..."
It's noteworthy that James
is quoting what should be on the SJCTS History. "Igreja Catolica Apostolica
Brasileira" is ICAB and Catholic Apostolic Church in
Brazil or CACIB is the English translation of that. And in
fact, it is the Catholic Apostolic Church in Brazil,
not of Brazil, as James states.
In the Saint
John Chrysostom Theological Seminary website, it is stated that it is, "An Ecumenical Seminary
of The Catholic Apostolic
Church in America" and also states they have, "Affiliated Schools,
Castillo Mendez Theological Seminary of Belize &
St Charles Theological Academy." To date, the affiliated schools have not
been located.
As an
aside, Saint John Chrysostom, which is the person this
"school" is named after, has an interesting
background. According to one
site that appears to pray to him, as Catholic theology would
have people do, a defense was made concerning John Chrysostom. [http://www.chrysostom.org/]
The author of the site stated that, while over
the years Chrysostom has been accused by detractors of being an
anti-semite
and a racist,
he apparently, according to that defender, was quite clear in
his writings about being against judaizers, not Jews. Other
sites have portrayed Chrysostom as a rabid anti-semite. It
is also interesting to note that James Trimm attacked his former
Messianic Jewish Rabbi on a public internet forum. The Rabbi's
name was Stan Eisenberg. This researcher spoke with a source on
the telephone who knows Stan Eisenberg personally, and who
remarked, "He is of the highest ethical and spiritual
standard and lives his life daily for God and is a dedicated
teacher." Stan
Eisenberg responded to James Trimm's assault, and his comments can
be viewed here. Stan
Eisenberg Letter. What we have then, is someone who
pretends to be Jewish slandering a man that has true Jewish
heritage on both sides, paternally and maternally, who was brought
up in traditional Judaism, who attempted to mentor James into the
truth. But James, in rebellion, refused and was dis-fellowshipped
from that congregation, and
then set out to establish his own "religion", where he
would be the sole authority, answerable to no one.
It appears to this author, that those who in the past have
cried Lashon Hara [evil tongue], the loudest being James Trimm,
have in reality, been the biggest offenders. Would
not Trimm's attack against his former Jewish rabbi be considered
by some, to be anti-semitic in nature? If this is so, then James
Trimm and his group of SJCTS friends could fall into the camp of being
defined as either judaizers or anti-semitic or both.
Matthew
23:13-15 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
The Catholic Apostolic Church in North
America uses the short form of CACINA ®, which is a registered
Trademark of the CACINA Diocese of Virginia, Inc., a Delaware
Corporation. The official CACINA
Logo is also a Trademark of the CACINA Diocese of Virginia, Inc.,
a Delaware Corporation. According to information provided
to another researcher, from that organization, and via email to
another query, there was no Seminary for CACINA
®
in 1995, prior to
that time or since. There had never been one.
In fact that researcher
reported that the organization President stated he had
not been aware that there was such a thing as SJCTS. Any doctorate or
degrees issued by Don De Cordova, would have been on his own volition, as the
Saint John Chrysostom Theological Seminary was not a Seminary venture or
representative of the official organization of CACINA®. By all appearances, that is what the SJCTS is
suggesting.
Seminaries do not need state authorization to
train clergy in theology, and each Bishop can train clergy. However, Bishop Don De Cordova was not authorized to
offer academic degrees without the required and proper state licensing.
According to the researcher, Bishop Don De Cordova left the official
organization due to a dispute in
December, 1995. That means from that point on he was actually no longer a Bishop
with CACINA ®. Meaning, that the Diploma issued to Trimm could still have the
appearance of being from a seminary of CACINA ®,
if there was actually one, because until
that time, De Cordova was recognized by that church, even
though they had no connection to his seminary, even if it had
been legally licensed.
In sharp contrast to the December 1995 exit
from that organization, was the February 2003 "stjohntheological" letter sent to newsgroups for
damage control and validation of James Trimm's doctorate and other doctorates
which SJCTS dispensed without proper licensing. It stated that De Cordova
left CACINA ®
in 1997, a two year difference, from what the researcher reported.
"Bishop Don de Cordova left the active ministry with the Catholic
Apostolic Church in North America in 1997 after CACINA squables over the
leadership and theology. He went into seclusion for a sabbatical period and into the
private practice of ministry to those suffering from chemical dependency and
psychiatric disorders."
Saint
John's - A Closer Look
Titus
1:15-16
Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
If one looks a little closer at what
precisely is said on the St. John site we will notice something rather
peculiar. On the current SJCTS web site, [now shut down] manufactured at the beginning of May, 2003 and slowly being added to, we see that they
say the following:
An Ecumenical Seminary
of
The Catholic Apostolic Church in America
Igreja Catolica Apostolica Brasileira
http://saintjohnchrysostomtheological.netfirms.com/
The SJCTS site also
states in their History:
Catholic Apostolic Church
in North America
"The Catholic Apostolic
Church in North America (CACINA) is the authentic
representative church of Igreja Catolica Apostolica Brazileira
in the United States possessing full sacramental and Episcopal
communion."
http://saintjohnchrysostomtheological.netfirms.com/history.html
However, the
official site for, "The
Catholic Apostolic Church in North
America", is the CACINA .org, which has
held the legal Trademark for that name since June of
2002. The organization is described by some as a break away organization
from Roman Catholicism and it's history is on their website
and other internet sites. http://www.cacina.org/additional_info.htm
SJCTS
also states, "...The Seminary is
organized and operated under the Ecclesiastical Approbation of
the Primate of the Catholic Apostolic
Church in North America, Patriarchate of Igreja
Catolica Apostolica Brazileira, and the Metropolitan Province
of Santa Fe."
Meaning,
they are saying they are operating under the authority of the official CACINA ®, which is impossible since Don
De Cordova left CACINA ®
in 1995, and they state they have had no seminary. And in fact, the SJCTS seminary statement is that they are,
"An Ecumenical Seminary
of The Catholic Apostolic Church in America",
which is an entirely
different statement than the legally registered Trademark name of, The Catholic Apostolic Church in
North America".
This is a legally registered
name...at least the one with
"in North
America" is. That is the one that Trimm and SJCTS people are saying
is legitimate...but apparently SJCTS has utilized the wrong name, hence
wrong credentials. The reason. They could not legally use the
official name. It is now legally registered to the official church
organization.
In the SJCTS History,
which attempts to match the official CACINA ®
history, but
contradicts the facts regarding the seminary
according to research mentioned above:
"During the summer of
1987 the Seminary Trustees determined to improve the
course of studies and broaden its constituency. In
1988 Dom Bryant de Cordova Bishop of Santa Fe and Professor
of Theology completed four year research project which
enhanced the curriculum, redesigned the Seminary program
and instituted an integrated approach to theological
education. The task was complete with a new emphasis in
theological competence and pastoral preparation"
"The
Seminary is the Provincial Seminary of the Metropolitan
Province of Santa Fe a recognized ecclesiastical
territory of the Catholic Apostolic Church in North
America."
http://saintjohnchrysostomtheological.netfirms.com/history.html
Being in a "recognized ecclesiastical territory
of the Catholic Apostolic Church in North
America," (CACINA) is not saying they are a part of that
organization. They are implying that. There was no State licensed seminary by
that name that
was authorized to give degrees, and there was no address in New Mexico where
they say it existed.
The
Saint John Chrysostom Theological Seminary is in
essence saying they ARE NOT the authentic representative of
ICAB or CACINA ®. The official CACINA
®
organization is.
Deceased
"Current" Faculty
Romans 1:28
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,...31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
According to one website >http://www.tboyle.net/Catholicism/Costa_Consecrations.html,
which documents the history and shows the apparent lineage of the official
CACINA ®
organization, we find that Don De Cordova was
consecrated as Bishop in 10/08/1988, by Luís Fernando Castillo-Méndez and in
11/06/1983, had been ordained a priest by Francis Jerome Joachim Ladd. Some of
those names
mentioned are also found in the official CACINA ®
history, which should be, since
they are part of the historical record of that organization. Of more interest is the fact that Dom
Carlos E Escobedo, mentioned as one of SJCTS's "Theological faculty", was also
consecrated a bishop on 10/08/1988, the same date as Don De Cordova, and also at San José, California, by
Luís Fernando Castillo-Méndez.
The author of the lineage website stated, of the
lineage from the Brazilian church, and it's founder, Duarte Costa,
"....Msgr. Duarte Costa acted as
(principal or co-) consecrator for several independent bishops, the first in
1945 and the last, shortly before his death, in 1961...
In the years since his death, however, the
few bishops he consecrated have become the source of claimed episcopal orders
for a immense number of clergymen (and even women!) saying they are validly
consecrated "Catholic" bishops..."
http://www.tboyle.net/Catholicism/Costa_Consecrations.html
In his Outline to the various lineages, he
explains that many have changed from one denomination to another, and in fact,
many are not truly ordained, and some lineages are difficult to track and
record.
"Outline of Episcopi Vagantes...."
II. The Complex
Lineages:
"Three of the following four lineages
comprise several scores of clergymen, all claiming valid "Catholic"
orders. Many of these clergymen, however, have transferred repeatedly from one
denomination to another, often even exchanging sub conditione consecrations
among each other, thereby making very difficult the charting of their claimed
lines of "apostolic succession."
http://www.tboyle.net/Catholicism/Outline.html
The four lineages he is issuing these
facts about are the ones
that contain the information on Don De Cordova, Jerome Joachim, Carlos Escobedo,
Justo R Gonzalez -Trimino, Juan Jose Villegas, and Bishop Raymond Kelly of
the official CACINA ®.
In fact, many of the names are found on
the official site, which validates their lineage, if this writer
understands how the genealogy works, back to the founder, Msgr. Duarte Costa.
Because they were not aware of the seminary or its activities or
the various people that may or may not have been aware of their
names being used on SJCTS, we can assume that the official
organization would be appalled that some would attempt to validate
themselves in this manner.
All the names mentioned, are either involved with Saint John Chrysostom
Theological Seminary (SJCTS), the official CACINA ®, or are
on
the State corporate records for: Saint John -- # 1511872;
CACIB-- # 0846584
CACINA--- #
0825232., with some variation to the names.
Perhaps what is most
interesting is that although Don De Cordova is on all the
corporate records except the California one, he is not found
anywhere in the official CACINA ® web site. Not even in their History.
On the Saint John's web site, under their Corporate
Trustees page, we see the same names, or variations of
them:

Accreditation
The Seminary is not accredited at this time.
Episcopal authentication and approval is primary under the
canons and constitution of the Church.
With Episcopal approbation the Seminary will seek
recognition through the Association of Theological Schools
and Institute of Biblical Scholarship and Research.
The Seminary is organized and operated under the
Ecclesiastical Approbation of the Primate of the Catholic
Apostolic Church in North America, Patriarchate of Igreja
Catolica Apostolica Brazileira, and the Metropolitan
Province of Santa Fe.
And is therefore accredited for theological studies by the
U.S. College of Bishops.
Alicia Solomon, mentioned in
the administration of SJCTS, obtained her Masters in music from SJCTS...which
is really a feat, because SJCTS doesn't appear to
have a music program.
Their Accreditation statement, "The
Seminary is organized and operated under the Ecclesiastical
Approbation of the Primate of the Catholic Apostolic Church in
North America," or CACINA ®, means that they are
stating they are operating under the authority of their corporate trustee:
"Dom
Justo R Gonzalez-Trimino, Trustee, Primate of CACINA."
Please note that the
CACINA.org web site, from
which De Cordova broke from in 1995, had listed Dom Justo R
Gonzalez-Trininio----not Trimino--
and there is no mention in the CACINA ®
history of him being
Primate, on their site or in the lineage
website. http://www.cacina.org/schultz_apostolic_succession.htm;
http://www.tboyle.net/Catholicism/The_Costa_lines-_F-J/The_Gonzalez-Trimino_linea.html
We find that the
mention of "Dom Jerome Joachim, Ph.D. Trustee
Primate of CACIB in US," questionable because, unless these people are
raising the dead, one can't have Jerome
Joachim as anything current. Unless we are speaking of someone who had the same name, who was also
Primate of CACINA ®, as SJCTS states.
From the CACINA
® website
history, we noted that Bishop Francis Jerome Joachim Ladd, did
become the second Primate of CACINA ®. When he retired,
and resigned as Primate, he moved to Mexico, working for the
parallel organization called the Catholic Apostolic Church of
Mexico, until his death, November 5, 1997.
From
that same source we noted that Bishop Justo Gonzalez also held
the office of third Primate and although still living, left
that ministry.
Source:
http://www.cacina.org/additional_info.htm
Jerome Joachim is found on the corporate
records for St John Chrysostom Theological Seminary in California (C1230651), and New
Mexico (# 1511872). He is also on the corporate record of The Catholic Apostolic Church In
North America (#
0825232) and also the corporate record of
CACIB (# 0846584). And he is never
listed as Francis Jerome Joachim Ladd in those records.
According to the Lineage
records he was ordained a priest in 1974, consecrated a bishop
in 1974, 1982, and 1985, each time to a different church. But
that history suggests that Francis Jerome Joachim Ladd, is also
Jerome Joachim. www.tboyle.net/Catholicism/The_Costa_lines-_K-O/The_Ladd_lineage.html
It is most interesting that he also obtained his
PhD from Saint John Chrysostom Theological Seminary,
and also signed James Trimm's diploma
as Registrar.
Since Jerome Joachim died in 1997,
doesn't it seem odd to have him as a Trustee as well as on the current Faculty page of
SJCTS in 2003?

Amazingly, Marian Hargis aka Miryam B'rit-Hargis died
December 24, 1999. Miryam B'rit-Hargis, is the mother of David

changed his name, but uses both or variations of the names depending on what he
is doing. For a chart showing the complicity of the people involved in this

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
SJCTS has been in a state of flux
from it's inception at the beginning of May 2003. But what has been astonishing is
what one finds one day versus the next. Examples are found in the Seminary
Approach and also their Seminary Philosophy, which has been changed several
times.
Saved from their "seminary
approach" page 5/21/2003
The Seminary Approach
The course of study is an integrated unit of five disciplines:...
The integration of the five disciplines is achieved through a tripartite
approach to theological education. This is conceptually based within the
dynamic theological process of the acquisition of knowledge and understanding
within the process of the practicing of wisdom. The ability to synthesize
theological and ministerial information with the application to acquire
understanding is intended to approach "a workman that needs not to be
ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."... The resultant ministerial production is thorough
preparation for today's Christian ministry with practicum results oriented
theological reference for pastoral initiative.
The Curricula Implementation
The five disciplines are studied throughout the three-year period with a
balanced synthesis of survey, interpretation and application. Each discipline
is conceptually and pragmatically divided into three component approaches:...
Course of Study Credit Hour Summary
The Seminary theological faculty in agreement with the seminarian design
courses of study representing 45 credit hours of Core Courses. The seminarian
extends this theological process with completion of 15 credit hours of Option
Courses; a Spiritual Life Reflections series of courses representing the
seminarian's spiritual, ministerial and academic emphasis for 5 credit hours;
and Supervised Practice of Ministry for 10 credit hours. The full Seminary
course of study equals 75 credit hours. The seminarian may focus on the
Theology of Aquinas, the Mystical Tradition of Christianity, Pastoral Care,
Chardin Theology, Liberation Theology, Ecclesiastical History or one or many
specific concentrations of Sacred Theology...."

What was in their Seminary Approach, was changed and added to.
Found May 30, 2003, SJCTS offered degrees,
doctorates and masters -- except that was changed as well.
Formal Theological Degree Programs
"Certificate of Theological Studies, C.T.S., an academic certificate
granted for completion of the basic/core course of studies for those persons
without undergraduate credit hours equal to or exceeding sixty (60) credit
hours. The C.T.S. is equivalent to forty-five credit hours of undergraduate
work.
Bachelor of Sacred Theology, S.T.B., an academic degree granted for
intermediate proficiency in theology. The seminarian must have completed sixty
credit hours of undergraduate courses in the liberal arts or obtained the
Associate degree. The seminarian must complete seventy-five hours above the
associate's level. The S.T.B. is comprised of a special research project in
Theology, Church History or Sacred Scriptures.
Master of Sacred Theology, S.T.M., graduate degree granted for
proficiency in specialization of theology or ministry. The seminarian must
have completed the Bacculearuate degree or its equivalent for matriculation.
The S.T.M. is thirty credit hours above the licentiate or 24 above the
Bacculearuate degree.
Doctor of Sacred Theology, S.T.D., an advanced graduate degree
granted for expert proficiency in a broad spectrum of theological and
ministerial subjects/areas. The seminarian must have completed the
Bacculearuate and Masters degrees or their equivalent for matriculation. The
S.T.D. is accomplished by completing seventy-two credit hours of graduate work
above the Masters level that includes a doctoral project worth thirty six
credit hours of academic work.
Doctor of Science, Sc.D., the Seminary's highest degree, is given 'honoris
causa', with distinction, is an advanced graduate degree granted in a
specialized subject of research that exhibits creativity and expert knowledge
of a defined area in the theological process combined with another discipline.
The Sc.D. is accomplished by completing seventy-two credit hours of graduate
work above the Master's level that includes an original work involving field
experience and/or indepth research experience."

Seeking Excellence
The prevailing emphasis of the Seminary is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Within
that emphasis Saint John Chrysostom Theological Seminary strives to prepare
qualified candidates for authentic service in the Body of Christ...through the
seeking of excellence in Biblical Interpretation, Pastoral Methodology and
Theological Competence. ... The course of studies is ecumenical in

within the Body of Christ is the primary purpose of the Seminary.

purpose that they serve at great sacrifice. No student will be kept away for
financial reasons alone.

posting....at least as of June 13, 2003. We know that the TaNaKh is also
known to Christians as the Old Testament scriptures. It is interesting to note
that many of these other writings listed above, aside from the ecumenical
emphasis, talk about the "other" christs. We are warned in scripture
that:
1 John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
Joshua 6:18 And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.

It should be obvious that this
group of people deals in deception. James Trimm's invalid diploma came from an
unlicensed diploma mill that uses deceased people for current faculty. A degree
or diploma mill is defined as any degree-granting body that is not accredited or
licensed by a federally or state sanctioned body. It should not be hard
to distance one self from all that these people have taught, endorsed and tried
to indoctrinate with. Even those who wish to believe what James Trimm has been
teaching, need to rethink their stand. One cannot get anything good from someone
who is rooted in lies.
Matthew 7: 15-19
"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire."
