Subject: [Ha-Talmidim] Statement From Tricia Tillin
Date: February 4, 1999 6:00 PM
*** From Peter: In response to your e-mail: We here in this ministry
greatly appreciate your openness and will be pleased to answer at anytime
anything about this ministry and its beliefs for you and Andy. We do not
agree with all Messianic and Hebrew roots movements either but we do not
like being placed in a melting pot that is filled with lies and
distortions no matter how many times a person tries to get the
individuals to see the facts. So I will with great pleasure post your
letter to all on our study. I personally will be pleased to work with you
in any area that I can be of service.
>Dear Peter,
>People have been sending me various bits of information lately regarding
>this whole terrible Aho thing. I am only "involved" in so far as, to my
>great annoyance, these people have been using my website, and Andy Gould's
>material thereupon, to support their allegations.
>
>They did this without my permission, and they misued the information in my
>opinion to make it sound malicious and even anti-Semitic.
>
>Even if they did not do an injustice to my/Andy's materials, they included
>it with other writings and statements that presented a wholly misleading and
>distorted view of the whole subject.
>
>So, I would like to be on record as saying that I do not endorse what these
>people (various people) are saying, and do not support them personally or
>their beliefs.
>
>Because I know, or know of, many of the people involved this is difficult
>for me, but I don't want to become drawn into a battle that is not mine. I
>have not been following the debates, and the field is not one of my own. I
>rarely take the time to pay attention to the things circulated to me - and
>that is how I missed the statements in the first place, until they were
>brought to my attention by somebody else.
>
>I am in no position to say anything that would contribute, but I do happen
>to know Yacov Prasch of Moriel personally, and I know he has been much
>maligned and misunderstood by these people.
>
>As you may know, Andy and I have looked into the subject of Hebraic Roots
>and, though we both have a deep and real love for Israel, the Jews as God'
>Chosen, and both believe in the plan of God for Israel, we consider some of
>the Hebraic Roots movement to be unscriptural and in error. Whether or not
>you would agree with what Andy has written is not the issue, however, for
>now people outside our ministries, and unknown to us, have made out a case
>far beyond anything we would have said, and done it in such a way as to hurt
>and harm other bona fide ministries. This we could never agree to, whatever
>our views.
>
>Andy, I know, has spent a lot of time carefully explaining his position,
>which is so far from anti-Semitic that to accuse him of that would be
>laughable. While recognising errors in the Messianic and HR movements, he
>would heartily endorse ministries that truly support Israel and the Jews.
>
>Some people seemingly cannot make any distinction, but their antipathy leads
>them to shoot off in all directions at almost anyone and everyone. I had
>already noticed this trend in the people involved, but was trying to ignore
>it. However, as you see, things have a habit of coming back to bite if you
>do ignore them!
>
>Hopefully, this will have straightened out my own position. I hope that Andy
>will in time respond also. He has only just learned about this situation -
>because he has been in Israel for the past few weeks!!
>
>Regards,
>Tricia Tillin
