I received the following email Wed 1/30/02 in response to the article on Scientology. I've followed a few of the links and the information provides further insight into Scientologists activities and legal battles. I'm assuming that the legal and historical documentation is accurate.

Hey, Vic. .Copied this off alt.activism...

This one's interesting. I've attempted to acquire the FOIA documents

from the IRS and U. S. Treasury for about five months now and have been

getting the run-around. "We're unable to locate the records you have

requested" and other lies -- when in fact I offered the document number,

the date of the document's filing, and other relevant information which

pinpointed the documents I was after exactly.

After persisting I was informed the documents had been found but that

less than half of it was going to be forwarded by the IRS to the U. S.

Treasury for further culling. The fact is that these documents were

never lost or difficult to find since citizens have been trying to get

a copy of them since the investigation in to the alleged blackmail and

extortion was completed and resulted in the documents being sought.

Now I'll have to file civil redress to obtain documents that by law are

supposed to be released by the IRS and U. S. Treasury after the passage

of the Freedom of Information Act. The documents in their complete form

contain evidence that should put a number of people away in prison for

a long, long time, it is highly suspected, and it is that reason why the

documents are being kept from the public, it's further suspected.

PRESS RELEASE

ATTORNEY GENERAL ASHCROFT REQUESTED TO COMMENCE CRIMINAL AND TERRORIST

INVESTIGATION OF AMERICA'S OWN TALIBAN - THE "CHURCH" OF SCIENTOLOGY,

ITS LAWYERS INCLUDING FORMER LOS ANGELES POLICE COMMISSION PRESIDENT

GERALD CHALEFF, THE LOS ANGELES DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE AND THE LOS

ANGELES CITY ATTORNEY'S OFFICE.

The United States Attorney General, John Ashcroft, has been requested

to commence an immediate criminal investigation into allegations and

evidence involving the Church of Scientology's seven years of alleged

R.I.C.O. activity against Los Angeles lawyer Graham E. Berry.

The complaint also requests a grand jury investigation of related

public corruption involving certain of the Church of Scientology's

lawyers, former LAPD Sergeant Eugene Ingram, the Los Angeles District

Attorney's Office, the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office and the

State Bar of California.

Mr. Berry's detailed 134 page criminal complaint describes the

activities of a number of Scientology retained lawyers including

former Los Angeles Police Commission President Gerald Chaleff and

former Los Angeles County Criminal Courts Bar Association Donald

Wager.

In addition, the criminal complaint describes egregious conflicts of

interest involving Los Angeles Superior Court judge Alexander

Williams, III, who is no stranger to public controversy involving his

alleged lack of appropriate judicial temperament.

Mr. Berry's complaint also alleges that the Church of Scientology,

certain of its lawyers and private investigators, blackmailed the IRS

Commissioner during the George H. Bush and Clinton Administrations to

grant the Church of Scientology a one billion dollar tax relief

package and tax-exempt status.

Page 2 of 2:

The complaint also details the Church of Scientology's "secret"

written policies in support of terrorism, crime and the totalitarian

take-over of all governments and the elimination of all other

religions.

Of particular note is evidence regarding the use of tax-exempt monies

in Church of Scientology ordered forced abortions and

concentration-like camps on United States soil.

Mr. Berry's letter was also been filed, on January 23, 2002, as an

Exhibit in the case of Barton v. Berry, USBC CD Ca, Case No. ADV

00-02187.

Mr. Berry's criminal complaint and request for criminal investigation

is attracting significant worldwide Internet support and debate

already. It is also expected to receive a number of European

governments. A related Internet petition has gathered nearly 1,000

signatures. The criminal complaints, civil rights complaint, hate

crimes complaint, fraud complaint, request for grand jury proceedings

and criminal investigation may be read at a number of web sites
